Baptism is a public way of showing a personal decision to follow Jesus and to love Him and obey Him. When someone is baptised, they are completely immersed in water as a symbol of dying with Jesus. Coming out of the water is symbolic of being raised with Jesus from the dead and having a new life with Him. Jesus said to His followers “therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”.
